Halloween is just around the corner, and what’s Halloween without a good scare? For those of you who think you have the guts and want to experience fear to the fullest this season, here’s a sneak peek at some of this year’s scariest local haunts.
Eastern State Penitentiary: Terror Behind Walls
Take a walk into a prison untouched since it’s closing in 1971, where you will walk next to cells that once housed some of America’s most notorious criminals, such as Charles Dickens and Al Capone. They say the lost souls of prisoners still wander the empty cell blocks, and now you can see for yourself. If you dare, the gates are open for you to run through the prison halls decorated with chainsaws, blood, zombies and more! Just remember once the gates close behind you, there’s no turning back...
Pennhurst Asylum
The terror inside this real abandoned insane asylum is almost as insane as the deceased patients it once held. This already haunted setting is amplified this halloween season with props and effects that will scare you out of your skin! But along, with the actors and props, areas of this actual insane asylum were left untouched since the hospital stopped running. Ranked at number two on the list of ‘America’s Best Haunted Houses’, this is a must go for those of you fright enthusiasts.
Bates Motel
Though the setting has no historical background, that doesn’t stop Bates Motel from ranking sixth on the list of ‘America’s Best Haunted Houses’. This haunted farm will put your fear tolerance to the test with it’s three heart stopping attractions: The Haunted Corn Maze, The Bates Haunted Hotel, and the most renowned of all, The Haunted Hayride. The custom effects of Bates Motel make up for it’s unauthentic setting and help Bates compete against the most haunted sites in the United States. For those looking for a good scare Bates is sure to do the job.
