We all screamed through Insidious, gasped during The Conjuring, covered our eyes in The Visit, and overthought The Happening. Horror movies are everywhere. Everyone watches them, some people love them, some people hate them. None are exactly the same, yet some are very similar.
One that just came out was The Visit. Now, don't get me wrong, I covered my eyes and was completely terrified when the grandmother started running and crawling, but it's not as scary as you would think. It had moments that made you laugh, scream, jump, and think way too far into things. Overall, I did enjoy it. Could they have made it better? Yes. I didn't like the kids very much; I actually thought they were annoying. The only times I honestly felt scared was when it was dark and something was obviously going to happen. However, there is nothing more terrifying than seeing an old woman crawl and run, in my opinion.
Another one is The Conjuring. We've all seen it, but it's definitely an important one. The Conjuring is one of those things where you want to keep your lights on even though you really aren't that scared. It still remains as one of my favorites. Remember the part when the witch is on top of the dresser? Yeah, so do my nightmares. I don't do good with high shelves anymore, you can assume why.
After The Conjuring came out, Annabelle followed. I was not impressed. I did not find it scary at all. As someone that is completely 100% terrified of all things doll related, I can say that I was not scared. Honestly, I wasn't even shocked. It was quite boring.
One that most people don't know is The Happening. Basically, the wind blows and people die. Personally, it terrified me. It's more interesting than scary, but it will make you think. I didn't go outside for a day.
In addition to the never-ending list, we have Insidious. The first one didn't scare me, but the second one horrified me. I cried. I was so afraid that I literally cried all over my friend. I couldn't sleep with the lights off. I know, it's not that scary. It was to me. I saw it around seven times in theaters with friends because it was just that good. By the 7th, I was still screaming in the theater. I couldn't even watch certain parts, like the one where the girl jumps out of the closet. I'm terrified of closets. All together, it was brilliantly thought out, and completely terrifying. Keep in mind, I'm not a very brave person, and I'm afraid of the dark. I may find a lot scary, but I know my movies. Happy Halloween, and don't forget: it's just a movie.
