On November 16, 2015, the final segment of the popular series by Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games, was released. The anticipation had been building up with all the dedicated fans that were drawn in by the action and the love triangle that Suzanne Collins and Francis Lawrence (director) created so well. The time had finally came. Mockingjay Part 2.

Francis Lawrence (director) and Danny Strong and Peter Craig (screenwriters) did a great job on picking it up right where part 1 stopped. The film started with the conflict between Katniss and the rebels and Peeta. The audience could feel the tension already. The movie progresses to the action between the capital and the rebels. The special effects were incredible. In the midst of all the carnage and action, there were quiet parts where you witness Katniss and all her friends and family try and cope with their own losses. The love triangle grew more intense and for those of you who like action with a side of romance, this movie is perfect for that.

As always, Jennifer Lawrence played a challenging role well and made this dystopian society truly come alive. Also, the way Francis Lawrence worked in these chilling yet hopeful parts was genius and he didn’t deviate from the purpose of the movie.
Generally, it is up to you if you like these kinds of movies but my opinion is that it’s got something for everybody. For all the people who read the book, it was exactly like the book but for people who didn’t read the book, it could be predictable and slow at times. When I asked people who saw the movie without reading the book, they thought the epilogue was pointless and it could’ve ended without it. Except, the epilogue is exactly what Suzanne Collins wrote and being a reader and lover of the series, I thought it was excellent. The effect Suzanne Collins and Francis Lawrence have on both readers and watchers is both chilling and riveting and everything was spot on. All in all, it was a really well done with the special effects, acting, and the plot. I’d advise you to see the movie whether you’re at the movie theaters or in your very own home.
