In the world we live in, technology is only getting bigger and better, and we’re here to bring you up to date with all of the latest upgrades.
iPhone 6s
Not only was the new iPhone released in September, but so was it’s software update iOS 9. The iPhone itself was given an upgrade in the storage department, a new 3D touch addition, and it now comes in a rose gold color. Also, the camera was bumped up to 16 megapixels (compared to 8 from the last upgrade), and the new front facing flash feature makes it different from its competitors. Live camera was also added, recording a few seconds before and after each picture in order to bring it to life.
To top that off, iOS 9 was made available on September 16th. The most important addition was the emojis, which includes tacos, unicorns, popcorns, and even a middle finger. Siri has been enhanced with its new “Hey Siri” add-on which allows users to have the personal assistant recognize and respond to only their voice. It makes hand free usage much easier. On the Ipad, this iOS is now able to handle more complex usage such as multitasking on the tablet with two screens up at a time.
Google Glass
Google Glass was a project destined for failure at the get go. After its costly release, many problems were brought up surrounding the product. Privacy rights were a major concern as well as driving while wearing the product and health concerns. People weren’t sure if having a wifi connected device 2 inches from their head was the safest idea. The software was only ever released in beta version, and although there was a lot of hype surrounding the product, not much was ever made to improve the costly glasses ($1,500 in total). The media took a stab at the device, and a negative stigma was created; after all, who would want to be considered a ‘glasshole’? After officially pulling the plug in January, the company has hopes to redesign the entire device in the upcoming years.
Samsung Gear S2
This new smartwatch is the first of its kind to cut down on its extra bulk in order to slim the watch and focus more towards the fashion aspect of the tech. They are allowing private brands to design their own watches under their name which adds a new spin to the product. Also, it has the longest battery life ranging from 2-3 days, which is way ahead of Android Wear and Apple Watch. The Gear also has a new feature which utilised its circular shape and transformed the watch into somewhat of a dial. Close behind in the competition for wearable tech is the Apple watch.
Apple Watch
This watch, one of the more famous in its category, has had many revamps since its first launch in 2014. One of the more significant additions is the brands who have created bands for the watch. These third parties, such as Hermes and a Louis Vuitton, have widened the market for wearable tech. Also, Apple store is one of the best in its class for a large variety of apps available on this new platform.
GoPro Hero4
This camera has become the number one action camera on the market subsequent to its arrival this past summer. Measuring in with 240 frames per second, this camera provides breathtaking and immersive video as well as pictures in stunning HD. The only issue with the camera is that many complain about its short lifespan, and it is still yet to be waterproof without a casing. Besides these faults, it's a must have for all those who want to capture life's exhilarating moments.
And that's a wrap on this season’s tech!
